Naples Florida Green Lodging – 2 Palm Designation -
The Florida Green Lodging Program was established by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection with the intent of recognizing and rewarding environmentally conscientious lodging facilities in the state. The program designates those facilities that make a commitment to conserve and protect Florida's natural resources. The DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Naples, is proud to be a Two Palm Designated Green Lodge.Naples Hotel Water Conservation -
Water for bottling gets transported over air, sea and land at an alarming rate – all to satisfy the drinking needs of guests. In an effort to drastically reduce the carbon footprint of our hotel, we utilize a mains-fed purified drinking water system. The use of this revolutionary system eliminates deliveries, unnecessary waste of disposable bottles, and also reduces corrosion and limescale buildup on equipment and piping that is a result of unfiltered water. We carry this thought process throughout the organization. Low water landscaping covers over 50% of our property area and is water only once per week. All our guestrooms are equipped with low-flow toilets and faucet aerators. Our team frequently checks taps, toilets and other systems for leaks; utility bills are tracked for water consumption on a monthly basis; and scheduled maintenance processes are in place to ensure proper working order.
Icelandic Glacial, a CarbonNeutral Product, is available in our guestrooms and also featured in our turndown service. This form of bottled water is filled in Iceland directly from the naturally replenishing Ölfus Spring.

Eco-Friendly Naples Hotel Housekeeping -
Our Housekeeping Team is diligent in training and education to continuously improve the hotel's carbon footprint. "Little Green Steps" is a training program introduced by Procter & Gamble to reduce chemical usage in guestrooms, which each of our team members has completed. In addition, all cleaning chemicals are concentrated to reduce use. Laundry is rotated at our facility between evening and day shifts in the down season. This shows exponential savings in gas, water, electricity and even payroll. Additional training was also implemented to save linen loss and improve machine usage. Drying times on our dryers have also been decreased with a slight increase in temperature to reduce drying time, save on gas, and protect linens. New washers with improved water extraction were purchased, allowing energy to be used at a "smarter" rate and further decrease drying time.
All laundry equipment is Energy Star Rated for optimum energy efficiency. Our guests can also assist our housekeeping team to recycle using our "Conserve to Preserve" program. Only towels that are placed on the guestroom floor or in the bath-room tub are replaced.

Recycling at our Naples, FL Hotel -
There are many initiatives throughout the hotel that enable our team and our guests to make a difference for the planet.- Reusing office paper – discarded office paper is always recycled, but our team members also have the opportunity to take this paper home to be used as drawing paper for their children.
- Blankets and linens that are no longer useful in a hotel setting are donated to several different local charities.
- Damaged linens are taken to the Collier County Humane Society and local Veterinary clinics for assistance in animal care and comfort.
- Housekeeping carts have been modified to house both a waste bag and recycling bag.
- Bamboo trash cans are used in every guestroom. Not only are they made from rapidly renewable resources, but the cans are split to accommodate both waste and recyclables.
- Can liners are always reused – first use to collect dirty linens, second for waste.
- All hotel meeting spaces, public spaces and even office spaces are equipped with split waste baskets to accommodate recycling in all aspects of the operation.
- Bedspreads are recycled and converted into bedskirts. This also instantly tripled our par rates, and drastically reduced the need for laundering.

Café Portofino – A Green Dining Experience -

Sustainable, Compostable, Biodegradable! -
At the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Naples, we are conscious of our carbon footprint and consistently taking steps to decrease it. We use sustainable materials wherever possible; our elevators utilize bamboo flooring and bamboo serving pieces are used by our food and beverage department. All disposable containers are biobased, and made from either recyclable or compostable corn materials. Even our office paper is made from 30% post-consumer content.Moving away from the typical fresh-cut flowers and floral arrangements, we commit to using renewable materials and flowering plants. Bamboo plants, potted herbs and flowering annuals are used as centerpieces with no need to replenish, simply nurture and water. For those who share our desire to reduce our carbon footprint, we also have premium parking designated for hybrid vehicles.

Keys for Trees -
The DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Naples has partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant Slash Pine trees in key areas that lack tree coverage. For every 10 keys returned for recycling, a tree will be planted in the Okaloacoochee Slough State Forest – a vital component of the chain of wetlands that feed the Fakahatchee Strand, Big Cypress Swamp and Everglades National Park. -
Clean the World -
Everyday hotels dispose of millions of pounds of unused soap and shampoo. Each year, more than 5 million people in impoverished communities die from diseases directly related to the spread of germs due to lack of handwashing. The majority of these deaths are among children less than five years old. Doubletree Guest Suites Naples donates all unused soap and shampoo directly to Clean the World, which distributes these mate-rials, along with educational materials to domestic homeless shelters and to underprivileged communities worldwide. -
Low Emission Construction Material -
The DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Naples is dedicated to providing a comfortable and healthy environment for our guests and team members. Floor materials, wood finishes, duct sealants and interior paints are selected for their lower chemical components and emissions. In addition, we are a smoke –free environment, which eliminates exposure to obvious and potentially harmful contaminates for both our guests and team members. -
Education & Engagement -
The key to implementing sustainability as a daily discipline is to reconcile our ability to manage our resources efficiently while providing even greater levels of services and hospitality for our guests. Through team member training, guest enrichment and community involvement, we strive to expand awareness of our best green practices along with the changes and choices we make every day that impact the environment.
We believe that we should be responsible corporate citizens by giving something back to our community by participating in non-profit activities. Teaching Kids to CARE originates from our CARE culture, based on a belief that we can all make conscious choices that have a lasting positive impact in our communities and our world. This business-education partnership connects hotel CARE committees with local school and youth organizations. Teaching Kids to CARE empowers kids to take simple steps to appreciate, conserve and preserve the earth's natural resources. -
LightStay and Energy -
LightStay is a Hilton Worldwide initiative developed as an internal measurement system to collect, analyze, and track environmental and social performance. LightStay's chief measuring component is SPORT (Sustainable Property Operations Rating and Tracking System). In doing so, we are able to integrate sustainability as a core performance metric and drive economic and social returns.
Property-wide, the Doubletree Guest Suites Naples has converted to energy-saving fluorescent and LED lighting. This simple step made for a tremendous reduction in our energy usage. The use of photocells as opposed to timers, has also been incorporated on all out-door lighting equipment. This ensures that all lighting is on only when necessitated by the lack of natural light. All in-suite air conditioning units have been converted to energy efficient elements. -
Guest Services, Inc., Recycling Metrics -
